Evan Kühl is well-acquainted with performing and exhibiting across an array of settings from concert halls, art museums, galleries, and film festivals, to clubs, caves, alleys, underground venues, parking garages, and even derelict trains.  Since 2010, his work alongside Ben Baker-Smith with Vaudeo Signal has helped forge new interconnectivity between sound and light through immersive synesthetic performance experiences spanning four continents, numerous festivals, and genre-defining releases.  Their 2010 self-titled album was hailed by Vague Terrain as “An affirming Rothko-like warm bath... as beautiful as anything I’ve seen or heard.”

As a visual artist Kühl often works around amorphous intersections of painting, printing, drafting, sculpture, and the ephemera of found objects.  Frequently inspired by architectural spaces, Kühl's continued exploration of bold forms, stark colors, seriality, and repetition reveals an emotional power within the subtleties of pattern and texture.

Broadly, Kühl’s creative processes reveal a performative element.  Built from the practice of working through patterns over many iterations by hand, merged with a fondness for utilizing elements of indeterminacy, Kühl has developed a unique and expressive visual language; one that dances around fundamental forms, organicism, and purity of line.
